Problems with security certificates

When first connecting to a restricted University of Ottawa resource from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter your login information. If you have problems with security certificates, follow these instructions:

Internet Explorer

  1. Go to https://www.thawte.com/roots/.
  2. Select Download a root package.
  3. Click Open.
  4. Click twice on Thawte Root Certificates.
  5. Click twice on thawte Primary Root CA - G1 (EV).
  6. Click twice on thawte_Primary_Root_CA.cer.
  7. Click the Install Certificate button.
  8. Click Next twice.
  9. Click the Finish button.
  10. Click OK twice.

Firefox

  1. Go to https://www.thawte.com/roots/.
  2. Select Download a root package.
  3. Click Open with.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click twice on Thawte Root Certificates.
  6. Click twice on thawte Primary Root CA - G1 (EV).
  7. Click twice on thawte_Primary_Root_CA.cer.
  8. Click the Install Certificate button.
  9. Click Next twice.
  10. Click the Finish button.
  11. Click OK twice.

Safari

  1. Go to https://www.thawte.com/roots/.
  2. Select Download a root package.
  3. Click Open twice.
  4. Click the Install Certificate button.
  5. Click Next twice.
  6. Click the Finish button.
  7. Click OK twice.
