The Jozef A. Mikuš fonds consists of various documents personally collected by Dr. Mikuš over a lifetime of activities as a diplomat, a jurist, a political activist, an immigrant, a teacher, an officer in various nationalist and political associations, and as a simple citizen. It is very much a “personal” collection of documents that reflects Dr. Mikuš’ views and interests on a multitude of topics, and bears witness to his lifetime involvement in the political history of his country of origin, Slovakia, in the life and struggles of his countrymen, the Slovak people, and in the social and political life of his country of adoption after World War II, the United States of America. Gravitating around these major focal points are documents on a variety of subjects from religion to economy, from freedom of speech to education, political parties to arts and culture, famous politicians to nationalist writers, from nuclear arms to aid programs.

Constitute! collection

The collection consists of audiovisual material and an archived website. The audiovisual files document interviews, talks, or events with women activists fighting for women's constitutional and human rights. Women activists featured in the collection come from Canada, Afghanistan, South Africa, Rwanda, and Uganda. The archived website Constitute.ca is a multi-media educational resource from the International Women's Rights Project (IWRP). The records date from 1981-2019 and were collected by Susan Bazilli or IWRP. Some of the interviews and footage appear in IWRP's documentary film Constitute! while others document IWRP projects.

La collection se compose de matériel audiovisuel et d'un site web archivé. Les fichiers audiovisuels documentent des entretiens, des conférences ou des événements avec des militantes qui luttent pour les droits constitutionnels et les droits des femmes. Les militantes présentées dans la collection sont originaires du Canada, d'Afghanistan, d'Afrique du Sud, du Rwanda et d'Ouganda. Le site web archivé Constitute.ca est une ressource éducative multimédia du Projet international pour les droits de la femme (IWRP). Les archives datent de 1981 à 2019 et ont été collectées par Susan Bazilli. The fonds consists of records created and collected by Rosemary Billings in her capacity as an executive member of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Canadian Women on the Constitution and the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) and relate to the creation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the guarantee for women's rights under Section 28. The records illustrate the work that Billings and her colleagues did to lobby the government to ensure that section 28 was not removed.

This fonds highlights the efforts made to advocate change in the legal process to end violence against women as well as police intervention regarding domestic violence in the 1980s.

The fonds documents Valerie Overend’s career and her involvement in promoting girls and women in non traditional careers, as well as in science, technology and engineering. The fonds mainly consists of graphic and textual records. It includes training programs, curricula, workshop materials, survey and reports, essays, and publications.

Series 1 to 10 consists of resources used by Valerie Overend in her own research and work to produce informational and educational materials. Some documents were created by/or in collaboration with Valerie Overend. However, most of the documents have been produced by other authors and related organizations.

Series 11 through 17 consist of records that document Valerie Overend's work and accomplishments in developing various programs and initiatives that engaged her over 25 years. They contain youth and adult projects and programs, presentations and workshops. They inform about Valerie Overend’s interventions in various conferences, roundtables, and summits. Briefs, articles, and opinion pieces are also included.
