The fonds focusses on the administrative activities of the CWHN, including its early establishment, in 1993, as well as correspondence and networking activities with affiliated organizations.

The fonds documents the CWHN’s meetings and its collaboration on projects furthering awareness on contemporary health issues and their impact on women . The fonds also includes publications and news clippings produced by, and pertaining to, the CWHN and affiliated researchers.

The fonds consists of records created and collected by Rosemary Billings in her capacity as an executive member of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Canadian Women on the Constitution and the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) and relate to the creation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the guarantee for women's rights under Section 28. The records illustrate the work that Billings and her colleagues did to lobby the government to ensure that section 28 was not removed.

This fonds consists of records related to Elizabeth Shepherd's involvement in organizations and groups who advocated for the prevention of violence against women. It contains records related to her activities as part of Women's Action Coalition, in particular, her actions with other groups to obtain justice for Gabriela Montans and her children. She was involved with METRAC and the records illustrate the interest she had in legal actions for women. The fonds contains records related to her political engagement against APEC (Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation), her commitment to the UNIFEM's International Campaign in 1993, the "Women Building Peace: From Village Council to the Negotiating Table" campaign in 1999, and her participation in the Voice of Women's Conference "Moving Forward: Women, Peace and Human Rights" held in 1992. It also contains her collection of articles, pamphlets and newspaper clippings on women's issues, mostly about legal actions and events in Canada, and violence against women.

This fonds provides insight into how women in non-traditional work were coping in the 1980s in the Toronto area. The records show how the women in this organization struggled to have their voice heard in the federal and provincial arena. There are significant federal and provincial correspondence that highlights the issues of pay equity, child care legislation and Canadian Human rights actions. The records include correspondence, membership and funding records as well as reports, conference material and newsletters. There are also photographs showing women working in trades.

The fonds consists of records related to Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Houses (OAITH), and specifically to the Regional Coordinating Committee to end Violence Against Women. It includes records related to communication between Ottawa Interval House and Ottawa Police, and also communication between (OAITH) and the Ontario Police Commission. This fonds highlights the efforts made to advocate change in the legal process to end violence against women as well as police intervention regarding domestic violence in the 1980s.
