Rosemary Billings fonds

The fonds consists of records created and collected by Rosemary Billings in her capacity as an executive member of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Canadian Women on the Constitution and the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) and relate to the creation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the guarantee for women's rights under Section 28. The records illustrate the work that Billings and her colleagues did to lobby the government to ensure that section 28 was not removed.

This fonds provides insight into how women in non-traditional work were coping in the 1980s in the Toronto area. The records show how the women in this organization struggled to have their voice heard in the federal and provincial arena. There are significant federal and provincial correspondence that highlights the issues of pay equity, child care legislation and Canadian Human rights actions. The records include correspondence, membership and funding records as well as reports, conference material and newsletters. There are also photographs showing women working in trades.

This fonds provides insight into the organization of a feminist collective in Toronto during the late 1970s until the early 1990s. It reflects the different stages of a feminist publication at this time, the cycle of securing funding and internal struggles in terms of creative direction and political aims.

This fonds consists of records related to Dawna Gallagher's cartoons presented in exhibitions, or published on postcards, in books, booklets, and periodicals in the 80s. This fonds provides a picture of a period of Dawna Gallagher's career as cartoonist. A lot of cartoons are related to the women's issues, illustrating women's movement positions in the 80s, mostly in Halifax and Toronto.

Helen Lenskyj fonds

The materials contained in this fonds give an insight of Toronto women’s movement activities in the 1970 to the 1990s. Since the 1970s, Helen Jefferson Lenskyj was involved in several community activist groups. The fonds reflects her commitment to the Feminist Party of Canada at the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s. She taught at the University of Toronto between 1986 and 2007. This fonds emphasizes her work on sexual harassment prevention at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (O.I.S.E.), and her involvement with the Centre for Women’s Studies in Education (CWSE), mostly with the subcommittee that she coordinated, which investigated a free-standing women’s studies program. This fonds is also composed of a collection of various posters on women’s issues in the 1970s to the 1990s.

Le fonds contient des documents concernant le Réseau des chercheuses féministes de l’Ontario (RCFO) dont Cécile Coderre a été la présidente, la représentante à la Table Féministe Francophone de concertation provinciale de l’Ontario, et la gardienne des archives. Il contient des ressources documentaires sur la Fédération nationale des femmes canadiennes françaises (FNFCF) avec laquelle Cécile Coderre a beaucoup collaboré pour des projets de recherches. Le fonds comprend également des ressources documentaires sur des organismes tels que le Réseau national d’action éducation femmes (RNAÉF) dont Cécile Coderre a été la représentante provinciale pour l’Ontario. Le fonds offre également des ressources documentaires en liens avec différents organismes franco-ontariens visant à soutenir les femmes tels que l’Action ontarienne contre la violence faite aux femmes (AOcVF), l’Union culturelle des franco-ontarienne (UCFO), et le Réseau des femmes du sud de l’Ontario (RFSO).
