This fonds consists of records related to Elizabeth Shepherd's involvement in organizations and groups who advocated for the prevention of violence against women. It contains records related to her activities as part of Women's Action Coalition, in particular, her actions with other groups to obtain justice for Gabriela Montans and her children. She was involved with METRAC and the records illustrate the interest she had in legal actions for women. The fonds contains records related to her political engagement against APEC (Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation), her commitment to the UNIFEM's International Campaign in 1993, the "Women Building Peace: From Village Council to the Negotiating Table" campaign in 1999, and her participation in the Voice of Women's Conference "Moving Forward: Women, Peace and Human Rights" held in 1992. It also contains her collection of articles, pamphlets and newspaper clippings on women's issues, mostly about legal actions and events in Canada, and violence against women.
