How to manually update links to Library resources

To update links to Library resources prior to December 10 so that the resources can continue to be available, you will link directly to the electronic resource.

Example 1: Catalogue record for a book

  1. Follow your existing catalogue link to the electronic resource.

  • You may have a choice of several platforms. Select the one you prefer.
  1. Look around on the page. Is there a “cite” or “share” button? If so, open the appropriate option and copy the URL.
Book on vendor site
  • If there is no “cite” or “share” button, copy the url from the browser.
  1. Go to the Connect from Off Campus page on the Library site.
  2. Paste the URL into the top box and click “Make an off-campus link!”
Proxy prefix added to book link
  1. Test the new URL (in the bottom box). If you link directly to the resource with no errors, use this new URL in Virtual Campus.
  2. If there are problems, errors, or questions, please create a technical support ticket and we will provide a link as soon as possible.

 

Example 2: Catalogue record for an article

  1. Follow your existing catalogue link to the electronic resource.

  1. Clicking Online Resource points to the article on one or several platforms:
Article on SFX menu
  • Pick a platform (for example, Business Premium Collection) and click.
  1. Look around on the page. Is there a “cite” or “share” button? If so, open the appropriate option and copy the URL you find.
Article on vendor site
  • If there is no “cite” or “share” button, copy the URL from the browser.
  1. Go to the “Connect from Off Campus” page on the Library site.
  2. Paste the URL into the top box and click “Make an off-campus link!”
