The collection contains items which reflect Margaret (Peggy) Grace Wallace’s nursing training, accomplishments, retirement and death. These items include medals, certificates, a letter of reference, a report of affiliate student, a newspaper clipping, photographs, sculptures and her obituary.

Biography/Administrative History: 

Margaret (Peggy) Grace Wallace was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1926. She graduated from the School of Nursing of the Children’s Hospital in 1949 and joined the navy as a nursing sister in the 1950s. She then went on to work at the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital and by 1972 was the Supervisor of the Casualty Department. She eventually became the Head of Children’s Emergency and retired in 1991 as the Head of Children’s Day Surgery until her retirement. She continued to volunteer at Deer Lodge Centre, Health Sciences Library and at the annual Book Mart in support of the Children’s Hospital. Peggy Wallace died September 21, 2013.
