The University of Ottawa Library is pleased to recognize Professor Emily Regan Wills as the recipient of the 2021 Open Scholarship Award. Established in 2016, this award recognizes leaders demonstrating excellence in supporting and practicing open scholarship.
Since her arrival at the University’s School of Political Studies nearly ten years ago, Professor Wills has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to open scholarship in both teaching and research. Her open educational resources, including a series of videos on research methods, reach students within and beyond the University of Ottawa.
Since 2015, Professor Wills has served as Co-Director of Community Mobilization in Crisis (CMIC), an international initiative to co-create, share and use open resources in four languages. She is also the recipient, alongside a team at uOttawa, Carleton University, and Collège La Cité, of eCampusOntario Virtual Learning Strategy funding for the project “French-Language and English-Language Interactive Learning Materials for Understanding Community Mobilization, Organizing, and Activism in Global Contexts,” which will result in the creation of a new open educational resource.
Believing in the importance of making research public and accessible, Professor Wills is a frequent commentator and contributor to media outlets. In addition, she regularly publishes in open access journals and promotes open data practices within the scholarly community.
Congratulations to Emily Regan Wills!
