Update: New info available on Scan-on-Demand, Curbside Pickup, and on-campus Library services this fall (2020-07-28)
The Library has two off-campus storage facilities.
The Annex: Since 2006, the Library has housed less-used parts of its collection at an off-campus storage facility called the Library Annex. Included in the Annex collection are books and journals, as well as maps, microforms and audio visual materials. In 2010, the Annex was relocated to an expanded facility with the increased storage capacity needed to accommodate the future growth of the Library’s collections. While it serves this purpose well, the Library Annex was not designed for long-term preservation of research collections.
Keep@Downsview: The University of Ottawa Library is collaborating with the libraries at the University of Toronto, Western University, Queen’s University and McMaster University to ensure the long-term preservation of less-used print materials. Extending the University of Toronto’s Downsview facility, the “Keep@Downsview” project provides a secure, environmentally controlled, high-density storage space, optimal for long-term preservation. By preserving and maintaining these valuable collections, they will be available for generations to come. This project was funded in part by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Productivity and Innovation fund.
